A Muslim female law graduate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Amasa Firdaus was on Wednesday banned from entering the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja for the Call to Bar service over her refusal to evacuate her hijab (head covering).
Thus, Firdaus, who went to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja was not called to bar like whatever remains of her partners were, which implies she isn't qualified to rehearse as a legal advisor in the nation.
It is against the custom and rules of the Council of Legal Education in Nigeria for female wannabes to the bar to wear hijab to the Call to Bar service.
In any case, Muslim associations in the nation have dependably censured the demonstration of not enabling female Muslims to wear hijab, saying that the demonstration is unlawful, preferential and wistful.
The associations expressed that the demonstration does not perceive the key human right of female Muslim law graduates to wear hijab, which is one of their religious commitments as it is a rule from their God.
Their case is hijab is a crucial right of each female Muslim and does not represent a danger to the lawful calling.
In the mean time, Firdaus' companions have begun an online networking effort, approaching Nigerian Bar Association, Human right activists, common society associations and good natured Nigerians to stand up and guarantee that she (Firdaus) gets equity and must be called to bar.
